Studio Contract 2023-2024*

Attendance: 

• You are guaranteed at least 46 private lessons +2 free private lessons for each music school year (public school nationally in the US has 36 weeks of school).

• Stafford Music Studio does not follow the public school's calendar, and may have lessons during school breaks.

• Recitals and 10 studio classes within the year are free, and attendance is encouraged but not mandatory.

• Your lesson time has been reserved especially for you. It is your standing weekly appointment and must be paid for regardless of your presence.

• If a student/parent wishes to change their lesson time mid-year, this can be discussed on a case by case basis. We do our best to accommodate, but it cannot be guaranteed.

• In order to maintain your reserved spot for the upcoming year, you must complete a minimum of four summer lessons. The cost of summer lessons is included in the annual tuition fee.

• The Studio Calendar is provided to studio families a few months before the start of the new music school year.
  
  

Practice:

Practicing REGULARLY outside of lesson time is a critical component to progress, this ensures that our scheduled lesson times are dedicated to learning something new. We will always go at a pace as our learners, but regular practice guarantees that we are as productive as possible during lessons. Practice sessions are customized to meet the individual needs of each student, allowing them to focus on specific skills for improvement. If you or your child need assistance with these practice sessions outside of our lesson times, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Stafford or your teacher.

Commitment Requirements: 

• A mental commitment for a minimum of 1 music school year is expected after "cooling off" period.

• First semester: September - December;
  Second Semester: January to June;
  Summer: July and August

• The Studio Contract pertains to the academic year and any subsequent periods. Modifications to the contract for the following year will be communicated in writing, and participation in lessons implies acceptance of the updated terms outlined in the upcoming year's contract.

Student Cancellations: 

• If you do not miss any lessons, you will receive two free extra lessons during this music school year. If you need to miss lessons due to conflicts, sickness, emergencies, or vacation days, these extra lessons will be used first. There is no need for makeup lessons or rescheduling.

• If you require more than 2 cancellations, you must notify us at least 24 hours before the lesson in order to receive make-up credits, with a maximum of two credits per year. The Studio will make every effort to reschedule, however, availability is not guaranteed. Make-up credits must be used within 90 days of issuance.

• The studio is closed on holidays and those days do not count towards the total of 46 lessons in each music school year. Please refer to this year's Studio Calendar for a list of holidays and scheduled studio closings.
  
  

Teacher Cancellations:

• If the Teachers need to cancel a lesson, a make-up credit will be given or a Substitute Teacher will be provided. If you opt for a make-up lesson with your assigned Teacher, it will be rescheduled and must be taken in addition to your regular lesson at a mutually agreed upon time and date. Make-up lessons will not replace your standing appointment. If a suitable time cannot be arranged with your Teacher or Substitute Teacher within 90 days, the Studio will divide the monthly payment by the number of weeks in that month and refund the cost.
  
  

Dismissal:
The teacher reserves the right to dismiss any student who struggles to comply with the studio policy at any time. Here at Stafford Music Studio, we strive to create an inclusive space for everyone. It is important to the Studio that everyone feels safe, and that we treat each other with respect and kindness. 
 
Termination of Contract: 
 Music lessons require a long-term commitment in order to establish the necessary foundation expected from all students. A full music school year, spanning from September to June (10 months), as well as an additional 4 lessons during the summer months of July and August (2 months), is required to maintain your reserved time slot in the studio. However, in the event of extenuating circumstances, a cancellation notice of no less than 3 weeks in writing must be submitted to terminate this agreement.
