Fall and 2024 Performance Updates

Thursday, August 24, 2023 by Judy Stafford | Uncategorized

I know I just finished the 2023-2024 season with Boston Symphony Orchestra, but it is never too early to plan for next year's! We have the dates confirmed for NEXT YEAR's Tanglewood 2024 performances and residencies, as well as performances for the Fall Season at BSO. I will update the Studio Calendar when I find the time. Here are the dates that I will be away next summer, so plan accordingly. Thank you!

Residency 1: July 23-28, 2024

Residency 2: August 20-25, 2024

I know many of you are looking forward to the Holiday Pops Concerts! I LOVE singing in them. I love the Christmas spirit! I do not have my own performance dates out yet, but this is as much as I can tell you at the moment: I will NOT be performing in the 6 Family Concerts, or in the sensory-friendly concerts. Other than those, you might see me in around 10 out of 34 concerts we will be doing in December 2023!

This coming Fall, we will start rehearsing for Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth. I just finished inputting the calendar dates for our rehearsals and performances onto the Studio Calendar. Surprisingly, there are only two conflicts that I saw on the calendar. Whew! We will also have recordings done with Deutsche Grammophon (Classical Music Label since 1898), and also perform the same piece at Symphony Hall in Boston first, and then at Carnegie Hall in NYC come January - surprisingly again, no conflicts! (Watch me jinx it.)

This may probably be the earliest we have ever started rehearsing for something. We usually only get 3-4 rehearsals, and then off we go to perform it. I looked it up, and this opera is almost THREE HOURS AND A HALF long! Now that explains a lot, haha.

Boston Youth Orchestra is performing Peter and the Wolf at Symphony Hall in November. Children are FREE, and tickets begin as low as $20. Go get some before it is all sold out! I was thinking about setting up a Studio Field Trip both for local private students and my preschoolers at the school, but I have a rehearsal that morning at Symphony Hall, and it will only end 30 mins after the show starts. So you all enjoy it without me. I know it will be great!
